A
Chinese puzzle at the Olympics
by Grasshopper
When the Chinese government doesn't
invite the President and Prime Minister of India to Beijing
Olympics, but rolls out the red carpet for Congress Party
chief and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and her entire
family, it's making a statement. What it is or what provoked
it can only be speculated on. It's a snub intentionally
delivered, the kind the Chinese specialize in. What caused
it? Was it the sloppy security that led to the Tibet invasion
of Chinese embassy when the Olympic flag arrived in India?
Perhaps it is a continuation of their policy of keeping
India off balance - like talking friendship while claiming
the whole of Arunachal and more. It's perhaps the Chinese
way of demonstrating how they view India.

Mammootty's
Maya Bazaar starts rolling
The shooting of Mammootty's Maya Bazaar
directed by debutante Thomas Sebastian, a long time associate
of directors like Sibi Malayil, Blessy and Sunderdas, has started
at Pollachi in Tamil Nadu. Mammootty, who is on a roll after a
string of successes, now places high hopes on the film, a Ramzan
release. He says the film's refreshing story line will appeal
to the audience. The film tells the tale of people engaged in
dealing with buying old vehicles and breaking them down. Mammootty
plays the role of a man who buys old cars, dismantles it and sells
them as spare parts. He is known as Akkiri Ramesh in the film
and operates out of Maya Bazaar, the market where spare parts
are sold.
